How to move a Citrix License Server

4th August 2006

How To

There will probably come a time when you need to move a Citrix license server. Below are the steps you need to take to achieve this:
Citrix licenses recognise the names of the servers inclusing case sensitivity. For his reason the process below will only work if you are replacing a server with one of the same name. If you are using a server with a different name you will need to reallocate the licenses.

Moving to a server with the same name

1.) Copy the following files to a central location:
c:\Program Files\Citrix\Licensing\LS\REPORTLOG.RL
c:\Program Files\Citrix\Licensing\My Files\CITRIX.OPT
c:\Pogram Files\Citrix\Licensing\My Files\*.LIC
2.) Uninstall Citrix from the old server to remove from the IMA database.
3.) Add new server to the domain calling it the same name as the old license server (Is case sensitive.)
4.) Install License Access Suite and the console on the new server.
5.) Copy the files from step 1 into the same location on the new server.
6.) There should be no more steps necessary but to be on the safe side I normally open up the license management console and click on the update licenses link.
