Installing the Citrix Streaming Client
13th January 2007
The third and final stage of publishing a streaming application on Citrix presentation server 4.5 is the installation of the streaming app client. The installation of this is described below.
The following assumes that you have Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 and the relevant management consoles installed. If you wish to have an application published to this client it also assumes that you have created a profile, published the application(s), and have a program neighbourhood agent site running
1.) The Citrix Streaming Client can be found on the components CD. Insert this and you will be presented with the following screen. Select “Citrix Presentation Server Clients” as below.
2.) Then select “Install Citrix Streaming Clients for Windows”
3.) Click Next to the following screen advising you to close all programs and accept the license.
4.) Install both of the following as below.
5.) You are now advised of the amount of disk space required and if you have enough.
6.) Now you need to specify the location of your Program Neighbourhood Agent site. This will be in URL format
7.) You can change the installation directory now if required. Generally this would be left as default.
8.) Now you are asked to provide a name. I am happy with using the PC name which is unique so I will leave as is.
9.) I have single sign on enabled on the server and therefore select yes on the next window. If its not enabled you will just have to fill in your username and passsword when you try to access the application.
10.) You are now given a screen to show you what will be installed. Check it is correct and click next. This may take a few minutes.
11.) You are done. Click finish.
12.) Providing everything in the Citrix environment and network is running as it should be you should now see the relevant programs. I published word and asked for it to be displayed on the desktop and as you can see below it’s appeared there (You may be prompted to fill in your username and password.) You should now be able to successfully run this application. If you selected “Make available offline” you could also try unplugging the network cable and checking if the application still runs as it should do.
