In the past I have discussed the Citrix Resource manager and Windows Performance monitor as ways of troubleshooting your environment. There is another tool that’s free from Microsoft that might aid you in future monitoring and troubleshooting, it has certainly helped me. How to Create a Baseline using Windows Performance Monitor

The art of using performance monitor is a fairly easy one to acquire but can be one of the most useful skills for troubleshooting all sorts of problems. It’s been included with the Windows operating systems for many years (both server and client versions.) In this article I describe how to use Performance Monitor to create a baseline. Citrix Error message “Failed to import summary file” Citrix Resource Manager

Quick Fix

This is an error I seem to get quite regularly on Presentation Server 3. It seems to usually happen just after a change of the summary database password but I have seen other times. The answer is simple but doesn’t seem that easy to find on the Citrix forums so I thought I’d put it here.

Overview of and how to configure the Resource Manager Summary database

Overview
 

Resource Manager is a tool provided with Citrix Metaframe that allows you to monitor and report on your Citirix servers and application performance. It can be used to identify, diagnose and solve problems and allows you to produce reports that identifies the requirement for more resources such as servers etc which is a great bargaining tool if you are in a meeting about where to spend the IT budget. Here I explain how to configure this handy tool.
